This overview describes the flow of the migration process from Exchange by 3rd party hosting company to Exchange 2013 by Plexhosted. Please read this information to see how the migration is implemented and who is responsible for each step.

Prerequisites: Exchange service provided by 3rd party hosting company.

Migration Plan:

  • Gather information about current Exchange environment
  • Create Exchange 2013 accounts
  • Data Migration
  • Check Exchange 2013 accounts
  • Switch DNS settings to the Exchange 2013 environment

Step 1. Gather information about current Exchange environment
Plexhosted and Customer: Our support team will work with you gather information about your current Exchange environment
Customer: Send the list of domain names, usernames etc. of your current Exchange organizations to Plexhosted
Step 2. Create Exchange 2013 accounts
Plexhosted: Create new Exchange 2013 organization and users
Plexhosted: Assign temporary passwords
Step 3. Data Migration

  • Due to the fact that Exchange settings may vary, our support team will prepare a proper solution to retrieve the data from your current service provider to Plexhosted
  • Duration of this process may vary depending on the volume of data

Step 4. Check Exchange 2013 accounts
Plexhosted: Send Exchange 2013 account information to the customer
Customer: Login to the Exchange 2013 Outlook Web App and verify that the data has copied correctly

Customer: Confirm that data migration completed correctly
Step 5. Switch DNS settings to the Exchange 2013 environment
Plexhosted: Provide new DNS settings to the customer

Customer: Change DNS settings according to Plexhosted settings
Customer: Check the mail flow and settings
Customer: Setup new Outlook and Mobile accounts

Plexhosted and Customer: Our support team will work with you to be sure that migration is 100% completed and Exchange 2013 environment is working properly
Customer: Confirm that data migration completed correctly
Customer: Confirm that Exchange 2013 environment is working properly
Plexhosted: Migration Completed.
