Sorting and filtering lists and libraries in SharePoint 2013

Sometimes, when you store a huge amounts of documents in your list or library it becomes difficult to see all of them on the single page. In this case you can use default Sharepoint tools to sort and filter the content of your libraries or documents, these tools are similar to the MS Excel AutoFilter tools.

  1. Login to your Sharepoint Library, there you can see the sample documents

  2. Click on the “Name” field, select Descending sorting

  3. You can see how this option changed the library view

  4. Now let’s check the “Filtering” tool. Click “Importance” field, click “high” checkbox

  5. As you can see the Documents with “Low” Importance were removed from the view

Save the modified view

  1. Click on the “Save This View”

  2. Select the name for your new view. In our case “Sample View”

  3. Click Library tab from the ribbon, and you can see your new view under the “Current view” tab
